GSHP for New Residence Halls

Industry: Higher Education

Services Provided: MEP Engineering

Pathfinder designed a new ground source wellfield and primary pumping and piping system upon the completion of a GSHP well field concept study for SUNY University at Albany. The college secured a Federal Stimulus grant of $2.7 million and, with DASNY, investigated incorporating Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) into this new $70 million, 500-bed residence hall project. The application of GSHP technology presented a sustainability opportunity for the University and this project. The project was comprised of two new buildings and was designed to comply with NYS Executive Order 111 and meet LEED Gold criteria.
